Introduction to St. Thérèse of Lisieux
Introduction to St. Thérèse of Lisieux will give an overview of her life and family. The course content will introduce you to the principal themes of the spirituality of this beautiful Saint. We will look at her works including poems and drawings. Students will have an opportunity to reflect on why her “Little Way” is so important in the new millennia and how she attained the summit of love. Little St. Thérèse faced the depths of her own powerlessness and abandoned herself more and more to the incarnation of God’s mercy… Jesus Christ. She gave her life as a victim for souls so that they may know His merciful love.

Vatican II states that all are called to holiness, and entering with St. Thérèse into the way of humility, suffering, beauty, and spiritual thoughtfulness we too can grow in awareness of being loved by an infinitely merciful Father.

Angels and Demons
Angelic beings, messengers of God, evil spirits, and possession, all make up a new line, online course called Angels and Demons offered by the Avila Institute’s School of Spiritual Formation.
Learn how an Angel is more than the beautiful winged creature depicted in art. Know that a demon is more than a fictional character in a horror movie. They are part of Catholic theology and have meaning that all should know. Explore the reality and nature of angelic beings, their role in the lives of the faithful and fallen angels and their power, role, and origin. This course will also include discussion about possession and exorcism.
