The Joy of Giving
“(Advent) is an opportunity to begin giving to God those things that distract my attention from Him. Then there is room in my heart for God to give me His Only Begotten Son on December 25.” -Debra Black

“A force pulled us back. It felt like landing on an airplane, that sudden shift in speed and the pulling back feeling. I found myself saying “I can’t believe it” as I watched his truck, and then the trailer, merge into our lane yet never touching us.” – Debra Black
There perhaps has been no time in modern history as the present where our personal holiness matters. We cannot delay in allowing God to transform us, to experience a sort of personal transfiguration.
Jesus consecrated Himself to us, securing us as God’s Kingdom. Now it is up to us to live up to that by consecrating ourselves to Jesus, particularly to His Sacred Heart from which His Precious Blood flows for us.
Jesus paid the price for us so that God could possess us by us possessing more of Him within us.
And I have given them the glory you gave me, so that they may be one, as we are one, I in them and You in Me, that they may be brought to perfection as one. (John 17:22-23)
Our faith teaches that God perfects us as we are, as He has created us. So this nature in itself isn’t necessarily ‘bad’, it simply needs perfecting.
Unforgiveness in our heart is akin to a big sign that says, “demons welcome”.
Offer to God your tangled, chewed-up heart this Lent. He can take it.
