Fr. Jeremiah Shryock, CFR, gives a homily to the nuns of the monastery of Bethlehem in Livingston Manor, New York, where he serves as chaplain.
Here he reflects on the high-priestly prayer of Jesus and the unity that he prays for as oneness such as Jesus has with the Father – but isn’t that unrealistic? Isn’t it too spiritual? And yet the Church gives us a way: the way of Mary.
“As the Father and Son are completing the Paschal Mystery and preparing to give them the Holy Spirit, it is Mary who is preparing her children for this great event. And of course, what she does with them is what she wants to do with us.”
