The Biggest Struggle Men Face in Discernment
“Am I worthy to be a priest? What if I’ve fallen away from the faith? How could God use me? What if I say no to the call?
Many men ask these questions when discerning. The truth is, no one is worthy—yet God calls anyway. He can even use our failures to draw us closer (remember Peter’s epic fails?).
If you’ve felt unworthy of God’s call, you’re in good company. It’s the #1 obstacle men face in discernment.
Just look at Scripture:
Moses: “Oh, my Lord, I am not eloquent… I am slow of speech and of tongue.” (Exodus 4:10)
Gideon: “Please, Lord, how can I deliver Israel? Behold, my family is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family.” (Judges 6:15)
Peter: “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord.” (Luke 5:8)
Paul: “I am the least of the apostles, unfit to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.” (1 Corinthians 15:9)
God calls the weak, the unworthy, the broken—and makes them His instruments.
So if sense a calling from God, don’t be afraid and remember, God knows who He is calling so you can trust Him.
